.
You may not find this as news or new information, but I did.
It seems that You Tube users are not particularly fond of Digg’ing posts or videos they watch.
I have several videos on You Tube that have gained thousands of views. They have also caused users to go to our Blog and read the articles about them.
The interesting thing is that even though they may enjoy the video, give it a high rating or even comment about it on You Tube, they do not take the time to Digg or are not setup to Digg the story.
The opposite seems true when something is posted on Digg, it gains a lot of views. Then the Digg users seem to have no problem rating or commenting on the video on You Tube or Digg.com.
Here are some examples:
Was Horry told to foul Nash! Views: 10,745, Comments: 86,
Diggs — 2
Suns-Spurs Flagrant foul, Views: 30,571, Comments: 113,
Diggs - 2
NBA Playoffs to get boring, with Spurs Jazz?, Views: 3,107,Comments: 2
Diggs - 3
You can see these videos garnered tons of views and comments, yet they were not dugg. even though some of them were highly rated on You Tube.
Seems
it is definitely apparent that, for what ever reason, You Tube users watch videos, click on the source, read the info and even rate the video. But they do not bother to Digg them.
Why? I don’t know. Are You Tube users not the same type of users the Digg receives? Are they not “Geeky” enough to use Digg or is it just a matter of different demographics?
I am not putting anyone down, trying to cause a stir or a debate, but there seems to me anyways, that the Digg’er is a different kind of person than the You Tube’r.
If you have any insight into this I would love to hear about it.
Just to be fair, we created a You Tube video so both sites and users will see it.
BTW, If you Digg it, they will come.
