First of all, if you are a Pownce user and love it then Great! 
Secondly, if you are not and want to become a user, you need an invite. If you want an invite, just let us know and we will be glad to give you one.
But, don’t be surprised if it does what you can already do now.
Here is what it does and why it won’t make it.
1) Pownce can send messages, links, and events to your friends all at one time. Sounds cool right?
Well can’t you do that on your cell phone already? Using SMS or MMS and your phone book you can send all your friends one group message. Not to mention Email or instant messaging.
2) Pownce can send files to your friends.
I am sure you already know how to do that too. Between email, IM and other file sharing sites you can send almost anything to your friends.
We are seeing that Pownce is already trying to increase their user base. First they had a limited number of invites available, then they gave out even more and then they started to send invites out to almost everyone. This all in about one month’s time.
This tells us that their model and prediction of interest is already off target and they are struggling to increase their user base.
It won’t help. In the beginning investors were all over Kevin Rose and Pownce, but we predict that in the next month they will loose interest. We (kinda) feel sorry for the ones that invested, but at the same time feel that if they had done some more investigation before investing they wouldn’t have been so excited to jump in.
For their sake, we hope we are wrong, but think that if you follow the outcome you will see we were 100% correct.

You’re that in that there’s other services that separately can do what Pownce does, but Pownce’s appeal is that it rolls them into one interface. And yes, while IM supports file transfers, it is often problematic to successfully transfer a file due to things like firewalls. Maybe they will fall, but I think they have a larger chance than you think of succeeding.
If I could get an invite, I wouldn’t mind giving it a shot too.

As much as I like Digg and a lot of the things Kevin Rose does I\’m probably going to have to agree with this article. This is just another version of twitter on steroids. I have it but hardly use it. I think TUBES is WAAAAYYY better and they give you 2GB of Trasnfer/Storage FREE. I mean you gotta pay just more transfer and storage capacity? Give me a break!
