If you have been following my blog on the NHRA race in Phoenix you probably figured oTP Logout that Tire Pros was one of the sponsors of the event. One of the things we do is host a suite in the tower and host special guests.

But I came across something that was totally unexpected or encouraged. I saw a great letter to Rob Geiger regarding the special people, racers and fans at an NHRA event.

Here is his note to Rob:

2/26/2007Just passing along a note

I admit I’m not the most savvy car guy in the world, but I do know good people and I know why I personally like the NHRA so much. Read on…

Hello Rob,
Both my sons, aged 17 and 18, have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and experience life from a power wheelchair below the eye-level of most people. However, we had such good time at this weekend’s race I was hoping you could pass along this note.

I want to say thanks to NHRA and the racing community for making the 2007 Checker Schuck’s Kragen NHRA Nationals presented by Castrol an enjoyable and memorable experience for my family; to the bloggers, especially Bob Wilber of Team Worsham/CSK, for reading and replying to my e-mails and taking time to say hello and then posting a picture of me with him at the Fan Fest; to the “Driving Force” TV show for getting my sons interested in my passion; to John Force for stopping, while on his way to watch his daughters race in Super Comp, to ask my youngest son if he was having a good time; to Courtney and Brittany Force for taking time to give autographed hero cards and posing for a picture with my son; to the Jeg’s crewmember who gave hats to my boys, and to Jeg Jr. for taking the time to stop, say hi, sign the hat and a hero card even though it was just minutes before the first qualifying session; to Eileen Broaddus of Broaddus Brothers Racing for the T-shirt and conversation she offered; to the unknown gentleman who gave my son a U.S. Army Racing lanyard as we watched from the handicapped seating area; to all the other racers, crewmembers, and spectators who took time to talk and share stories with us; and a special thanks to Brandon Carnahan of Tire Pros for providing tickets to attend the event.

Thanks,
Ric Grassmick
NHRA Member

I have known Ric and his family for over 2o years. He is one of the most dedicated family man you will ever find. He is also a rabid Drag Racing fan, and so the rest of his family. I have to agree with Ric, there are no racing folk, like NHRA folk!
