Cool motorcycle pictures of Jet Bike

Sunday, 29th April, 2007

There are some great photos of Jet’s using their afterburners. But Strap a jet between you legs and give it a try!

Courtesy of Mad V8 Bike here are some pictures that will blow your mind. I can’t imagine strapping 3,800 horsepower between your legs!

I bring this up, because we are sponsoring a Monster Truck and Jet car show
at Firebird raceway this week. If you have never seen a Jet dragster, funny car or motorcycle go down the track, you need to find the closest show, get there and check it out!

As a side note: I purposefully left out any link or info of our event. I didn’t want this post to be an advertisement. Just thought these pictures are very cool! If interested feel free to comment or contact us.

Getting hooked on Driving Force?

Wednesday, 11th April, 2007

Promo pic of driving forceI don’t watch a lot of “reality” type TV shows. In fact other than Sanjia on american idol, I could not name any other contestants. Only reason I have heard of him is because of the Stern show.

But, with my background of hot rods and drag racing, I had to give this show a try. I am starting to get hooked on the show.

Why? because of a couple of reasons one is the racing! They actually explain quite a bit about top fuel and then throw in some excitement, like this episode:

Ashley makes her pro debut at Pomona, the first race of the 2007 NHRA season, and John sets a lofty goal for his team: get all four of their cars qualified for the 16-car elimination round. Two members of John’s team qualify for the show early, but Ashley and John’s struggles have them on the outside looking in. With John’s 19 ½ year qualifying streak on the line and Ashley’s pro debut about to go up in flames, both must make dramatic runs to make the show.

Even though I know how it ends, there is still some excitement as they make their qualifying runs.

Family ForceThen there is the relationship between his wife and his daughters. Laurie, Ashley, Brittany and Courtney. Some of the interactions are hilarious, others are exactly as expected when dealing with 4 women. Family JewelsAs John has found out living with four women is a heck of a lot harder than driving top fuel funny cars.

There is starting to be a lot of chat about the program and people are starting to talk about it. So try it out and see what you think. For our family its a hit. But of course a few of them think that Family Jewels is better.

NHRA Driver Eric Medlen 1973-2007

Monday, 26th March, 2007

NHRA driver Eric Medlen died Friday, five days after sustaining a severe head injury in a crash during a test session at Gainesville Raceway in Florida. The 33-year-old from Oakdale, who drove for John Force Racing, never regained consciousness after crashing his Funny Car into a guardrail on Monday at the Florida track.

This is a sad day for drag racing. If you follow the NHRA, I am sure you already heard about it.

But, last month, I had the chance to have breakfast with Eric. This was one of those setup breakfasts that the drivers do before a race to interact with their fans.
He took the time to not only answer our questions, but to pose for any photos and stay as long as he needed, so we all got a chance to talk to him.

Like many drivers Eric Medlen always had time for a fan. Whether it be a young child or a veteran fan, he always made the time.
He will be sorely missed. He definetly was one of the “good guys” that make the NHRA and drag racing a special sport.

“Eric Medlen was the son I never had,” said team owner John Force. “He was the leader of my next generation of drivers.”

You can read more about Eric at NHRA.COM’s special section.

Little things go a long way!

Wednesday, 28th February, 2007

If you have been following my blog on the NHRA race in Phoenix you probably figured oTP Logout that Tire Pros was one of the sponsors of the event. One of the things we do is host a suite in the tower and host special guests.

But I came across something that was totally unexpected or encouraged. I saw a great letter to Rob Geiger regarding the special people, racers and fans at an NHRA event.

Here is his note to Rob: Read the rest of this post

Best time to see Top Fuel Runs!

Monday, 26th February, 2007

Today I had to go to Firebird Raceway and pick up our Tire Pros trailer. What to my surprise, the top fuel guys were staying an extra day to do a bit of testing.

Melanie Troxel and the Force team must have decided they needed to do a bit of testing and tuning. It was great! Best of all it was free!
No one was in a hurry and rushing around. John Force and the whole Force team were out, Melanie Troxel and a few others were testing too.
It was just a lazy warm day in Phoenix, where you could get the pros to stop and talk, take a few photos and talk “shop” with just about anyone.
Some of them were just testing 1/8 mile runs, others were going full out! This is also the best time to get a chance to stand on the starting line. If you have never been on the starting line when a Top Fuel Dragster or Funny Car runs, you just haven’t lived!
Nothing like feeling the earth shake when a Fueler hits the gas!

If you ever get a chance to have a NHRA race in your town or somewhere close. Don’t forget to check if they are staying an extra day to test and tune. If so, you will never get a better chance to get up close and personal with the folks that handle the fastest cars on the planet!

Nothing wrong with getting up close and personal with Ashley Force either! :)

So take an extra day off and go to the track the day after Race Day!

Sunday, 25th February, 2007

The headline reads…Fuller repeats in Top Fuel, T. Pedregon sweeps near max points, KJ wins 36th
Check it out. It was a very exciting race. But of course the main excitement was in the midway.

BC and Tire Pros at NHRA

Saturday, 24th February, 2007

Just so you don’t think everything here is computer geek stuff or Lizard related.
I have spent the last 2 days at Firebird International Raceway working and promoting Tire Pros at the event. It started out yesterday with me having breakfast with Kenny Bernstein (photos coming soon) and got more exciting as the day went on!
A full day of qualifying both Friday and Saturday, culminating with a dramatic last-ditch qualifying efforts by John Force and Doug Kalitta. Barely extending their class-leading streaks, both men managed to limp in during the fourth and final time trial, Force in Funny Car with a 4.818 and Kalitta in Top Fuel with a 4.547. Force has now qualified for 394 consecutive events, while Kalitta has reached 162 straight race days. If you have never had the experience of seeing a car go 330 MPH+ on a quarter mile you have not seen anything!
But, not only did we see some great runs and a little nail biting, we also had alot of fun at our booth! We had lots of vistors and the weather was great! Mid 60’s with abundant sunshine.
Sunday will bring the finals and everything is up for grabs. Should be a great day! You can see some of the highlights on NHRA Race Day live this Sunday from the Checker Schucks Kragen NHRA Nationals at 11 a.m. Eastern on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD.
Check out other photos and view details on the upcoming Tire Pros Monster Truck and Jammin Nationals here!

PS… I will be sling’ing the ESPN show from our booth and handing out their brochures. So I guess there will be a little geek talk going on. :)
