SanDisk Sansa View 32 GB Video MP3 Player

Tuesday, 29th January, 2008

b000mqj19s-1.jpgSanDisk has a new Sansa View 32 GB Video MP3 Player coming out soon. I am told this will be released on March 15, 2008!

This new Sansa View comes with 32 GB of built-in memory. That’s about 8,000 MP3 files or 48 two-hour movies. The device also boasts a MicroSD/SDHC card slot, which supports cards of 4 GB or higher, so you can swap in an endless amount of media.

The Sansa will give you up to 35 hours of music (or 7 hours of video) on a single charge, and is conveniently charged via the same USB 2.0 connection. So you can use this to transfer files to the device from your PC.

You can also use Windows Media Player to manage your files.

The new device supports MP3, MPEG4, WMA, WAV, and non-DRM AAC audio formats, as well as MPEG4, WMV, and H.264 video formats, so you can feed it all kinds of media.

It will also be compatible with the 35,000-plus audio book titles available at Audible.com.

The Sansa View features a built-in microphone for voice recording. You can use it to capture notes, meetings, lectures, or any other application you might need.
It also will record from the built-in FM radio, which features a digital tuner with 20 user presets.
The Sansa View will also display JPEG photo files up to 16 megapixels. Take your favorite images with you anywhere to share with others.

This is some sweet stuff! Can’t wait to try it out!

How about you? Going to wait for this to be released?

Fedor Wins Again!

Tuesday, 1st January, 2008

The best mixed martial arts fighter in the world, heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, continued his winning streak today in Tokyo with a dramatic first-round submission over the South Korean giant Hong Man Choi.

Emelianenko, who spurned the American Ultimate Fighting Championship because Japanese promotions offered him more money and more freedom than UFC, showed once again that he’s got both the strength and the technical precision to dominate mixed martial arts.

The 7-foot-2, 360-pound Choi gave it a game effort and landed a couple of rough strikes, badly bruising Emelianenko’s face. But Emelianenko has much better MMA skills, and as soon as they went to the ground, it was clear that Emelianenko was going to win.

Although Choi was on top and landed a few solid strikes to Emelianenko’s face, Emelianenko quickly got Choi’s arm locked in a textbook submission hold, and Choi had no choice but to tap out.

The fight was part of a New Year’s Eve event in Tokyo that has become one of the biggest annual sports traditions in Japan. Emelianenko gave the Japanese fans a good show.

Wal-Mart and PornA father gave his 10-year-old daughter a Christmas present that would make Santa blush. Now Daryl Hill wants to know why an MP3 video player he bought at a Wal-Mart in Sparta was preloaded with pornography and explicit songs.

Hill bought three of the players as Christmas presents for his children. He said one of the devices had apparently been returned to the store from a previous owner who loaded sex clips and songs with lyrics about using drugs.

“Within 10 minutes, my daughter was crying,” Hill said Thursday. “I wish I could take the thoughts and images out of her head.”

Hill questioned why Wal-Mart Stores Inc. would sell used merchandise as new, which he said violates its own policies.

A company spokesman said in an e-mail to WSMV-TV of Nashville that stores are not supposed to return opened packages to the sales floor and that the matter was under investigation.

Hill said he declined Wal-Mart’s offer to replace the MP3 player. He said he has already bought his daughter a new one and is hanging onto the controversial one until he talks to a lawyer.

I don’t blame him, Wal-Mart needs to do a better job at checking their returns!

Best and Worst of Commercials of 2007

Saturday, 29th December, 2007

The Wall Street Journal posted an article on what they think is were the best and worst ad campaigns of 2007. But what were the best and worst TV commercials of 2007?

Here is some of the ones we voted on.

Best Commercials of 2007:

Eye of the Beholder
The online video, which cost less than $150,000 to create, takes aim at the definition of beauty. The spot shows an average-looking woman being transformed into a billboard supermodel with the help of lots of makeup, lighting and airbrushing. “No wonder our perception of beauty is distorted,” reads the screen.
One of the best examples of a company using the Web for advertising. The ad, which was posted on YouTube last year, has been viewed more than 24 million times on the video-sharing site, and it has had about 4.6 million views at www.campaignforrealbeauty.com. Moreover, ordinary people have created their own films spoofing the ad.

Drummer in a Hair Band
Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar
Cadbury Schweppes PLC launched a TV ad in the United Kingdom featuring a gorilla playing the drums as Phil Collins’s 1981 hit “In the Air Tonight” blares in the background. The ad ends with a shot of the candy bar and its slogan: “A glass and a half full of joy.”
After the agency placed the ad on the Web, the spot has become a global sensation, garnering seven million downloads. More than 200 people have posted their reworked versions of the gorilla ad on sites such as YouTube, and fan clubs have sprouted up on social-networking site Facebook. Cadbury has credited the spot with lifting sales of the candy bar.

Also included in this is a Fabia Car commercial and the Sony Bravia Commercial as honorable mentions. :)

K-Fed, Insurance Salesman
Nationwide Mutual Insurance
A Super Bowl ad starring Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’s ex-husband and wannabe rapper, working in a fast-food chain. The spot, which looks like a rap video, shows Mr. Federline, wearing a baseball cap and wireless headset rapping. As the camera pulls back, Mr. Federline is seen working the drive-through window. “Life comes at you fast. Be ready with a Nationwide annuity and you could be guaranteed income for life,” a voiceover says.
Big-game ads are typically about glitzy ads oozing with special effects, but this spot became a PR sensation because of its use of an in-the-news celebrity. The clever ad move dominated a week’s worth of pre-game media coverage from segments on “Entertainment Tonight” to “Good Morning America.” The spot generated 3,584 news stories, which the company, a unit of Nationwide Financial Services Inc., estimates to be worth $23.3 million in free publicity.

The Human Stain
The TV commercial shows a man interviewing for a job who is repeatedly interrupted by a talking stain on his shirt.
The consumer-product titan has tried for years to add some fun to its often staid advertising that for decades had largely been based on showing product demonstrations. This ad won a Silver Lion Award at the annual International Advertising Festival in Cannes, France. It is one of the ad world’s top honors and an accolade that rarely goes to soap.

Worst Tv Commercials of 2007:

Metal Meltdown
A quirky Super Bowl commercial showed a despondent robot jumping off a bridge in a dream sequence after it made a mistake on a Detroit assembly line.
The spot drew fire from a suicide-prevention group, and the car maker was forced to re-edit the spot to remove the suicide scene. In addition, some consumers complained that they felt the ad was insensitive to auto workers who had lost their jobs as a result of automation. GM declined to comment.

Kiss It Goodbye
The ad showed two mechanics eating the same candy bar at the same time — in what was a bizarre spin on the famous scene from “Lady and the Tramp,” where two dogs simultaneously eat a strand of spaghetti. After the men reach the middle of the candy bar and lock lips, they rip out clumps of their chest hair in a desperate attempt to “do something manly.”
Mars pulled the ad after the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation condemned the ad as antigay. “Feedback from our target consumers was positive, and many media commentators ranked the commercial among their top 10 best,” said Alice Nathanson, a spokeswoman for Mars. “We know that humor is highly subjective and understand that some people may have found the ad offensive. That was never our intent.”

Why are you using the hard way to get Music?

Friday, 21st December, 2007

There are tons of great places to get legal music downloads from WalMart to Rapsody. But it seems that, even with only a .89 cent download, a lot of people are still trying to find free music.

So they download Limewire or torrents and search all over the place for that free mp3 file.

We at the BC Blog say, stop doing that!

If you missed it, there is an easier way to find music and other MP3 files. It’s just a plain google search and right click!

Check out the info here.

But remember, stealing free music is not legal, so if you do so, you are on your own!

Video of the Day and how to Download it

Monday, 17th December, 2007

If you have been following the BC Blog, you know that we have been posting the photo of the day. These are sometimes funny some times thought inspiring.

We have decided to move from photos to videos. Now every time you go to the BC Blog you will now see our video of the day in the top right corner. Again, sometimes these will be funny, sometimes thought provoking or maybe just a cool gadget report we have found.

You can watch the videos and enjoy, but there are times you may want to share the video with your friends. The simplest way is just to tell them to go to the BC Blog and watch it here themselves.

But, if you want the ability to download them or email them to a friend, here is how.

Just right click on this and select, “save target as” or “save link as”, depending on your browser. Once you have done this, then rename the file to something that makes sense to you and then you have it forever. At this point you can save it for yourself or email it to whomever you wish.

If you have any problems or questions on this, let us know, but remember the videos will be changed often, so as you save them its important to rename them as you go!

Oh, if you have a video you would like us to put up as the “Video of the day” feel free to send it or give us a link. Just put it in the comment area below.
