It looks like Network equipment maker Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:CSCO - ne
ws) and Apple Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL - news) on Wednesday said they have reached an agreement that allow both to use the “iPhone” name, after Cisco sued the iPod maker for using it for a new multimedia phone.
No financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. But we will dig around and and out.
In a joint statement, they said both companies are free to use the “iPhone” trademark on their products throughout the world, and each side will dismiss any pending actions regarding the trademark.
Under their agreement, Cisco, of San Jose, Calif., and Apple, of Cupertino, Calif., said both companies are free to use the iPhone trademark on their respective products throughout the world. Cisco will drop a lawsuit it filed against Apple in federal court in San Francisco, accusing Apple of infringing a Cisco trademark ..
Just to confuse things a little more though Apple still faces possible delays in Canada where closely held Comwave Telecom Inc. has used the iPhone brand since 2004 to sell Web-based phone service. Comwave said in January it filed documents opposing Apple’s motion to take the name.
